Training and Research in Radiology

The broad range of clinical specialties represented at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin provides an excellent basis for a solid and comprehensive residency training program at the Department of Radiology.

Scientific activities in the Department of Radiology cover a wide spectrum of highly interesting research areas ranging from basic science to clinical trials and covering topics from molecular imaging to interventional radiology. We publish our research results in high-ranking, peer-reviewed journals every year.

As an internationally renowned medical center, the Charité invites physicians and researchers from all over the world to join its faculty. The Department of Radiology provides residency training and support in pursuing specific research interests to international scientists and physicians.
Our most important criteria in selecting applicants are clinical and diagnostic skills as well as an interest in research or a record of prior scientific experience. Although all physicians and scientists in our department speak English, adequate German language skills are required to do clinical work (fluent English will be sufficient for research projects).

Residents have an opportunity to write a medical thesis during their training.

We thank all visiting physicians and researchers who worked at our department for the fruitful and successful cooperation. It is a great honor for us that many international colleagues with an excellent academic background are interested in joining the Department of Radiology of the Charité as visiting scientists or clinicians with grant support from renowned organizations.

Furthermore, the Department of Radiology provides an international research exchange program with the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston (USA).
