Fit 4 Excellence / Residency in Radiology

The Department of Radiology is located at all three clinical campuses of our hospital – at Charité Campus Mitte, the historical site of the Charité in the center of the city, at Campus Benjamin Franklin in the south of Berlin, and at Campus Virchow-Klinikum, the large modern hospital erected in the northern part of Berlin in the 1980s.

With about 150 physicians, 60 scientists, and 185 technologists currently working at CharitéCenter 6, ours is the largest radiology department in Germany.

Residency in Radiology at the Charité

What we are offering:

  • a well-structured radiology training curriculum, which can be supplemented by a rotation in nuclear medicine
  • a current ratio of residents to supervisors of 1.5 : 1
  • a comprehensive spectrum of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including all hybrid imaging modalities (MR-PET, PET-CT, SPECT-CT) and 10 beds for inpatients of our interventional radiology section
  • a wide range of imaging devices
  • an advanced career development program (360-degree feedback and counselling)
  • a broad spectrum of research activities in different areas of radiology including clinical research in patients, contrast agent development, new technologies, and molecular imaging
  • an infrastructure that is conducive to scientific investigation from taking a sabbatical for research to language editing of manuscripts for submission to high-ranking journals

In line with the Charité’s general philosophy, our department strives for radiological excellence in patient care, research, and teaching. We always welcome new team members who:

  • are willing to take responsibility and provide dedicated patient care
  • see it as an important task to take an active part in imparting knowledge to colleagues and students
  • have a keen interest in research and are willing to join one of our existing research groups, develop their own research focus, or set up their own research team over time. We expect our researchers to regularly submit their work to established journals
