Robin Schmidt is a medical candidate at the medical faculty of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. He joined the lab as a doctoral student in January 2020. His research focuses on biomedical imaging markers to assess diagnosis, characteristics and prognosis in the management of liver cancer and is particularly engaged in the assessment of tumor microenvironments in the setting of minimally invasive tumor therapies. As part of an interdisciplinary project with the Department of Hepatology, he examines blood and tissue samples from patients with liver cancer, who have underwent CT-guided high dose-rate brachytherapy to assess immunological profiles predictive of tumor response.
